2015 Consejo Shores Triple Crown - Awards Banquet and Ceremony

Awards Banquet

After weeks of glorious weather, the 2015 Consejo Triple Crown Awards Banquet was held on March 28th at Dwaine and Ginny Garner's home under threatening skies, with strong to sever thunderstorms in the forecast. Fortunately, the Consejo Shield was in pace and the rains held off except for a few light sprinkles. It make for a cool and comfortable afternoon but most of the folks decided to stay out of the pool.

The banquet was a pot luck event, so the food was plentiful and delicious as always. Armadillo Eggs, Smoked Pork, Grilled Potatoes, Meatballs, Macaroni Salad, Biscuits, a delicious Broccoli/Cauliflower dish and more made up the main meal. Pumpkin and Apple pies, Cream Puffs and Chocolate Coated Strawberries were the desert offerings. It was just a typically Awesome Consejo Shores Pot Luck.

The main purpose of this event was to give awards to the winners of this years Consejo Triple Crown. This year was unique in that the overall winners, Rob and Jane, didn't win a single leg of the Triple Crown. Bocce was won by Ed and Rita (subbing for Larry and Janice), with Rob and Jane placing second. Horse Shoes was won by Dan and Kim with Ed and Rita (again subbing for for the Dunns) coming in second. The Scotch Doubles 8-Ball crown went to Jim and Mary with overall champs Rob and Jane finishing second.

Tom and Rose Gardner have been the driving force behind the Consejo Triple Crown from its inception. Tom has had some debilitating health issues this year so Jeff and Denise Fillmore stepped in to organized this years event. This year's participants were asked for suggestions for improving the Triple Crown and increasing the participation. There were several excellent ideas, so we may see a slightly different Consejo Triple Crown next year.

So that's it for the 2015 Consejo Triple Crown. We are looking forward to next year! Special thanks to Tom and Rose for all their hard work over the past 4 years, and to Jeff and Denise for stepping up and taking over when this years event was in doubt.
