Corozal Bay Youth Sailing Program Raffle
Consejo Yacht Club

The Consejo Yacht Club launched our Corozal Bay Youth Sailing Program (CBSC) in February 2012. Young Belizean children learn to sail the Optimist Class sailboat. They participate in competitive Regattas sanctioned by the Belize Sailing Association and vie for a position on the Belize National Team. Three of our initial four sailors are already medal winners at several national Regattas.

The Corozal Bay Youth Sailing Program is available to boys and girls between the ages of 10 to 14 who live in the Corozal Bay area. The Consejo Yacht Club provides the necessary equipment, transportation, and accommodations for the young sailors to participate in Regattas in Belize. If you know of a young person interested in learning to sail, please contact us.

We recently held a raffle to raise funds to support the program. The winner could choose either a male or female type bicycle.

  • Drawing held: July 23rd, 2012
  • Winner: Mr. B. Munson
  • Ticket #: 398
  • Purchased at: Evergreen Pharmacy Corozal

Mr. Munson chose to donate his prize to Marion Carter, student and part-time clerk at Evergreen Pharmacy. Miss Carter recently had her bicycle stolen and this generous gift from Mr. Munson was a most pleasant surprise. Serendipity, it is!

We thank Mr. Munson for his kindness and we thank everyone who supported our program through the purchase of raffle tickets. We also thank the merchants of the Corozal Bay area for selling our tickets.
