Joyce took a little day trip with her Son and family in June of 2008 from Consejo to Copper Bank and on to Sarteneja. The roads were in pretty good shape, the worst section being between the Pueblo Nuevo Ferry and the fork in the road leading to Copper Bank or Progresso.
The last time we went to Copper Bank we stopped at The Last Resort. This property changed hand soon after our visit and was closed this trip. The group was lucky to find "Donna's Restaurant", which is run by the former owners of Last Resort. Everyone agreed this was the best meal they'd had in Belize, outside of Joyce's kitchen.
There is a ferry across the lagoon between Copper bank to Sarteneja. This was not there on our last trip. It is a very nice addition, making Sarteneja a relatively easy drive from Corozal.
